Please help young month old crest choking on dirt already spit some out please help.
He is doing better now I think I got out all of the dirt.
He's light again, active, and breathing fine.
I do not suggest using loose substrates for young geckos. Keep the bottoms bare or use paper towels. Crested geckos are clumsy feeders sometimes and can get mouths full of dirt. You can also feed them from bowls to help prevent any accidental ingestion of substrate. But IMO it is safer and easier just not to use it.

I know what you mean them about being clumsy feeders. I do keep him normally on paper towels and bowl feed him. I was cleaning his cage and furniture down for a half hour or so and I put him in my plant cage (I have cats so its the only way to grow them). I thought it would be less stressful and warmer then putting him in a small empty container with my cats around. I still don't know why he ate the dirt because there wasn't anything in there to attack. I'm just lucky I got some good advice to loosen the dirt from powergeckos. Thank you too for your concern and advice.
