I was wondering about your idea about cutting out a square hole in a melamine floor to use flex watt in a cage. Would it be easier to just take the floor out and make a frame with 2x2`s and make the whole floor plastic? How do you get the plastic to stick do you screw it down or use liqud nails to adhere it?Im asking cause I am going to be making a new cage in the near future for my Iran Jaya Carpet Python and I was thinking about using that for the floor so it easier to clean and the cage can be lighter. Thanks Steve

Many people have a greater peace of mind if there is a solid floor that simply has holes cut out of it. For a pre-existing cage cutting holes out can be a lot easier than trying to remove the entire floor, especially if the screw holes are plugged, etc.

For a cage from scratch it's easiest to not have a floor of any type. Instead just use silicone and staples to attach a plastic floor to the outer rim of the cage.

I have done this with cages up to 2'x4'. A friend of mine did it with 2'x8' cages.

It's truely a great design. Lighter and the floor is easily replaced.
