Jeweled curley tail with crusted eyes.

Asmodea Oct 15, 2004 09:20 PM

One of my mail jeweled curley tailed lizards has developed a kind of black crust in the front corners of his eyes. I noticed one side has it yesterday, and he seemed to prefure to keep it closed, but could open it a bit you were to touch him.
Now today both eyes have it. Sometimes he'll open them, other times he trys to move around with them closed.
As of this moment their tank lights have all been off for a bit, but he's not left the basking perch. Usualy he'll head down to find a spot to burrow for the night right quick. He's alive, will move if provoked, but is alot more docile than is normal for him.
Had him maybe six months or so now, and this is new. Comments, qestions, concerns, advice?

Very possible. Usually lizards eyes get sandy or stuck shut.

I have seen it happen with collared lizards of friends, when they had them in brumation, with (no heat or lights) it resulted in respiratory infection.

I'm not a Vet, thats for sure, but I would suggest if his eyes continue to be clunked up and shut, I would ask my Vet.

** If it were me, I would also turn the lights and heat back on, keep him warm. (ESPECIALLY NOW)

Hope he will be okay, let us know take care,
