Blast, Why do Panther's have to be so darn expensive!?

LordOfTheLizards Oct 15, 2004 09:44 PM

Poppycock! I really want a panther. HOWEVER! the purchase of this animal is to be funded by my parents. AND!! they do not really want to spend so moocha on a panther (150-300 CN)

SO!

does any1 know a breeder who sells ther panthers reletively cheap? like 50-110 bux0rs? dontget me wrong, if i could i would pay any money needed,

i would get a veiled but i hear they get very aggressive, now I know that chams arn't to be held much but i dont really want a cham that'll bite and hiss at me every time i take it out for a few minuts for cleaning or sunbathing

i heard jacksons are mellow but ive been having trouble finding CB ones (Don't want no wc ones)

i live in southern ontario

and I want a cham

not all veileds are aggressive. If you have a store near you hold a baby and see which ones will let u hold them. if you handle them for about 30 minutes per week, most of the time they will become tamed. If you still want a panther the only place with those prices is a place that got a lot of bad feedback, so I dont know if you want to take the risks. Reptile Depot.

you know, for panthers, you really get what you pay for. If you want to pay 50-110 bucks, you'd end up getting low end animals that are either inbred, unpure in locale, or something with health problems.

Its kind of like buying a 500 dollar car, with a broken transimission, poor brakes and bad engine that you probabaly have to spend twice the amount you paid for it in the first place to get it fixed.

If you ask me, i'd avoid buying cheap panthers for your own good, and for the good of the hobby. Don't encourage irresponsible people who don't care about the animals and just want to make a quick buck. you'd be better off buying from reputable breeders.

Oh...and sorry for sounding harsh.

I beg to differ! Panther chameleons are no harder to breed than veiled chameleons. I was breeding both, but discontinued the panthers ONLY DUE TO THE LACK OF SPACE! Both chameleon species are hardy, they 'almost' have the same requirements, and each & every individual has its own personality. As far as the pricing, yes, panthers are more expensive. However, they become such brilliant colors that you won't find in a veiled. You get what you pay for.

I would have to agree with cricket they are pretty much the same in breeding respect
However the Panthers are overall more colorful so there is more demand for them! Hence the higher price
On the other hand Veileds are alot cheaper than that of the panthers and when breeding for the first time offer invaluble experience for breeding of Chameleons so people usually start with veilds before they start breeding panthers,
So there are more veilds for sale and less demand for them therefore the lower price!

I know, I know. The post was more of a joke in the way that people use "shorthand" when they could type the full word or phrase just as easy. When people type like that it makes them seem, well, young. Dont take it as a personal attack, but to me, I just skip over posts with jibberish in them. I'm not going to try and interpret when people use numbers as letters 1337, bux0rs, any1...

Lol no offense taken
Ive lived in the city so long i thought everyone talks like that

I feel ya. I live in Florida and we say Yall. But, you never see anyone use that word on the internet. Basically my point was that too many abbreviations and too much slang makes it hard to understand a post.

sorry i typed like that, i was in a hurry and wanted to write it befor i left the house.

I work at an ice rink, and we have our nicknames for a bunch of things, and even an "accent", imitating one of the engineers that works here. Sometimes I talk "Munn" outside of work, and people have no idea what I'm talking about! Oops!

BTW, since there is no NHL this winter, you should all watch college hockey. Maybe you'll see me on tv!
Go Michigan State!
