What makes Chondros look the most stunning?

Predator20 Oct 15, 2004 11:32 PM

In the Complete Chondro, Greg states that certain bulbs make the animals colors stand out and look stunning whereas others washed them out. Does anybody know what companies provide the lighting that allows these beauties to display their true colors.

I've tried a few different lights, learned in the old days of film and am still adapting to digital, but find the white balance feature on my digital cameral the best tool for getting true colors of my snakes. Blue is hard though... any hints on getting blues to photograph well are welcome!

But then.... I prefer to shoot under natural sunlight, I'm basically lazy and it's easier. This picture was taken in afternoon sun on patio with shade cloth above. I kinda like it!

That is an amazing pic but I am talking about lighting for the cage on a day to day basis that makes the animal look breathtaking to the eye which should then do so on film. Great pic though.

I think a good way of getting blue into the picture is to use broad spectrum fluorescent lights.
