Thermostats and Heat Panels

Predator20 Oct 16, 2004 12:44 AM

What are some of the better thermos, I ahve been looking at the Helix DBS1000 and the Herp Power by Big Apple. Anybody have any takes on either one?

As far as heat panels go I have been looking at Pro Products. But I was wondering if I even need one versus an incandescent bulb.

Helix DBS1000 are great...very reliable

I use Helix basic, Helix DBS 1000's and I also have Big Apple herp pro's. I like all of them but all of my helix's get error message's from time to time so they make me worry. I think the Big Apple herp pro is under rated by alot of people. I also use one in my incubator and during the whole incubation the temp's were steady never droped at all. As for Pro-Products heat panels, I have 18 of them and love them. Bob is a great guy and I highly recommend them.
Some people complain about the price being alot more than heat bulb's and all you have to consider is how much the light fixture cost plus how many heat bulbs are you going to buy in the next 10 years because your heat panel has a 10 year warranty. Just my thought's.

Tim, I get that error message also, but its seems always related to low voltage due to a temporary loss of power, even for a split second...its just to let YOU know there was a temporary "problem" with the current...it doesnt affect the function of the unit at all....at least thats what I have found in my use and from reading the lengthy instructions. I havent tried the apple unit so I couldnt make a comparison. Norm
