they are my most favorite of all of the American snakes.
How is their temperment in the wild?
if i ever own a venomous animal it will be a copper head.

I certainly do not want to undermine the Copperhead's potential to inflict a painful bite, but they have got to be one of the most non-aggressive snakes (venomous or non-venomous) that I have ever come across. I think they are aware of how well they blend in to the leaf litter because with all my hovering around them trying to get some good macros not a single one of them moved a muscle. It was really bizarre to see. Respect them and give them a wide berth, but I have never seen such a laid-back species of snake.
Cheers,
Ryan

Remember that each is an individual. I have found contortix that sit on hooks and do not even open their mouths, and I have a video of another that struck at anything that moved. Andy

Oh absolutely, but you can imagine the formulation of my opinion - 3 specimens found in my entire life, 3 specimens behaving in the exact same docile manner.
I certainly do not wish to elude anyone into believing that this is the rule, perhaps it is the exception, I have no way of telling. I was just outlining my experience.
Cheers,
Ryan
