Okie dokie. It's been about 12 days of Parazap I believe. Novia is doing great (Pic 2) but Tobias isn't doing so great... He doesn't eat real well, and his tail scares me, it's so skinny.

Shes looks so dang GREAT Amanda! Your male can still use some meat, is he eating at all? If he does, but not much, be patient he may be preparing for the long sleep

BUT with his weight, I personally would not encourage that

You can repeat the parazap in a month. If he were to get lethargic, and sickly and NOT eat at all , then I centainly would consider A Vet's opinion.

My male vestigium, is only eating about 1 cricket every few days. And sleeping more than basking.

But Novia looks fantasic, good job

Do they hibernate!?!? Oh crap!

You know, once I think hard, I think he's just plain not eating. He ate three days ago when i made him, and today when I made him eat at least one SMALL cricket. He'll watch them run around, lick them, then back off...

Novia is eating, basking, playing, sleeping, and being very very frisky! She feels so much better, I'm assuming.

I should be babysitting tonight. If I make 25 dollars thats enough for a vet visit. Maybe I could take him and hit my mom up for the meds he may need. We took Kiora, my hamster, yesterday. She's been sick for five months, turns out she has a mucous yeast infection of her GI tract.... YIKES. He said she shouldn't be alive and that I saved her. So, yeah, point is: I should take Tobias to the vet. =P

I rambled. :/

A vet ! Just wanted you to know that.

Parazap is great for healthy animals, as a control, OR PREVENTATIVE against parasites. But you should have fecals done at the vet, to determine the presence of parasites.

Most Vets will discourage its use, there are some forms of worms they do not believe can be killed by parazap.

I have been doing alot of reading about parasites, and kind of got side tracked, but intend to get my own microscope and supplies, I'm learning to do my own fecals. I think with all the reptiles I have it would be wise!

As far as Brumating, (hibernating) yes they do in the colder months, they will slow down as far as appetite, they will not bask as much, they will sleep longer. Some people do encourage this or Force brumation, by evenually turning off all lights (done over a period of weeks).

It helps in breeding, for them to sleep, and is supposed to be benificial to their longevity.

BUT.... You really would like them in good health/ top weight as some that are extremely thin may not make it through Brumation , with no food all that time.

So if your male does not eat and continues to lose weight I would have him seen by the Vet. But Novia looks wonderful.

Glad your hamster is doing okay too !

any of the corporate pet stores should sell them, maybe not at an ideal price though. also open the lid and sift through the saw dust stuff a little to make sure that there are not alot of dead (black) ones. you can look online and whereever you get your crickets, ask if they can order them for you

I use Reptile Depot for my superworms, he has butter and waxies . Like I said most places sell them all. Silkies are also good.

But butter worms and waxies are high in fat!
