Question for bairds owners....

cnb2 Oct 16, 2004 11:42 AM

After seeing all the posts on and about bairds I have a question. Are they active snakes. Do they stay active during the day or are they mainly active at night. I'm thinking of added one or two but probably not till next year. Thought I'd go ahead and ask now.
Thank you
Chuck

Mine are incredibly active.Even when there not they dont use there hides.I use those cheap half logs and both my bairds sit on top of them. They are active day and night and when I feed them they will roam around the better part of the day looking for more.Mine also enjoy rearrangeing everything in there tanks...Paul

I think in the wild they are largely nocturnal (I have only ever seen them at night). My captive snakes are probably mostly nocturnal, but they aren't particularly shy. If they are hungry, they certainly will cruise around in the day.

I have only one, an '04 hatchling, but I was especially struck by the level of activity right away. This guy even continues to wander around after a meal sometimes. He is MUCH more visible than my corns and at least as active as some of my other ratsnakes. Never misses a meal either. I had to laugh yesterday at how hard the little bugger slammed his second pink!

>>I am never surprised to see either of my bairdis out at any time of day but they do seem a bit more nocturnal.
Usually within about ten minutes of turning off their lights they start moving around.
All and all much more active then my corns.
