Keeping Boas on Aspen question

Mickey_TLK Oct 16, 2004 01:11 PM

I have recently switched the shop over to shredded aspen for my snake bedding. What Id like to know, is do you guys feed on the aspen, or pull the snakes to tubs? Ive got about 100 snakes in the rack system, and I would LOVE to just feed them in the tubs on the aspen, but I have a feeling this is a bad idea.

Opinions welcome

I always just place a small sheet of paper with the feeder on it for them to eat it off of. (lowers the chance of accidental ingestion, and only adds a few seconds per tub to do it)

Thanks guys.

Im not soo worried with the adults, or yearlings. Its the babies that have me spooked. I had been pulling and tubbing, but with the new boaphile racks, I would love to just drop and go. Im SO SICK OF LIDS its not funny. Now no lids, I just dont know what to do.

Mickey,

We use paper towels or newspaper to lay under them while the feed and then go back through the rack in a while and pull all of the paper. That way they dont ingest bedding.

Good luck,
John
