I made one with 2x4s that i bought from home depot for around $3
I cut them down to 2x2s with a table saw though
if you dont have a table saw i think they sell 2x2s also
and i used 1/4 inch square wire mesh which i also got there which is close to $1 per foot

The cage i made was for outside
It was 2x2x5
I can tell you if you are making one for in the house
Make it light and easy to clean!
Also think about all the water from spraying and misting it can destroy carpets and walls quick!
Like tray in the bottom to collect the water
and something like plexi-glass half way up the sides and back
so the water doesnt shoot out and ruin your carpet or whatever
Im thinkin of making one like a peice of furniture that will hold several Chameleons but that will get very exspensive

im making mine for out side. i'm also gonna have to put wheels and legs on the bottom because my house blocks the sun in the back yard so i would havce to move it with the sun.

cool i live in michigan
i Just want to say that be very very careful Not to overheat your chameleon just because in the morning when you put him outside and the cage is partly shaded
doesnt mean that it will still be shaded in the afternoon
I learned the hard way on a very exspensive lizard!

I use 2x4's also, and wire mesh, for the doors I use a sliding door track sold at home deopt, from stanley. It's about 1" wide, and has 2 sets of tracks. Then I use stuff to custom make screen windows also sold at home depot, and make screen doors. If you would like I can e-mail you the cage i just finished, it's 6'x 2' x 3' and holds 3 Jackson's. I also use vinyl tile on the floors, it holds water, and is easy to clean up..
