I found this snake outside of my dorm room in Clemson, South Carolina. Clemson is in upstate-western South Carolina. My dorm is in a wooded area. Any help on the identification of this snake will be greatly appriciated. Thanks!

That's a Brown Snake, or a Dekay's snake. The eat soft insects like earthworms and slugs. they don't usually do well in captivity however.

I'm not saying you're wrong... but I'm suprised to hear that. My first snake was a brown that my dad found while fishing... I was about 7 or so and I had it for a few years... mostly feeding it night crawlers and a slug every now and then. I wonder if I'd have the same luck if I tried again...

Thanks guys...I appriciate you getting back to me! Im not worried about it I was just curious. Already this semester two people have been bitten by small Copperheads. I just wondered. I have a Gray-Banded King and a two corns. I really love snakes!
