Is your animal F1 hybrid?

Nice pics, I like the marking on his neck, kind of like a milk snake.

Glad to see some adult hybrids around here

JETZEN Oct 17, 2004 10:01 PM

I don't know, he was purchased as a sub-adult at a petshop whose staff only knows how to sell pets and nothing else, lol. thanks.

Nice Jungle Corn, I just picked a Jungle Corn up at the IRBA show in San Diego this last Saturday. Although your adult is probably more beautiful.
Do you feed all your snakes by hand?

My jungle corn is just a plain normal, up until about a year ago I used see some fantastic jungle's in this forum. Did you see the beautiful speckled king-X-alino ratsnake a few threads back it's absolutely gorgeous. ANYWAY, no i don't all my snakes in my hand, only my favorites and the most co-operative. Your snakes look fine, one looks like a decent O-K-T and I guess the amel is the jungle corn, right?

Jetzen,
I have posted any pics of my Jungle Corn yet, but I will try to soon. It would be cool if I could get or start to try to feed some of my favorite snakes out of my collection by hand. I feed all my snakes in a seperate feeding container and as I put them in the feeding container I am holding the snake as it strikes and begins feeding, but have never held any of mine while feeding. Then they snakes are left in the closed feeding to container to finish feeding then I leave them there until done and go onto the next snake. I think I may start training some of my stronger feeding reponse kings and corns (possibly my new hybrid) to feed from my hand or at least try it out every once and a while. The pic I posted with my daughter was a Okeetee (Abbott line) corn and a Creamsicle corn. If you want to see more of my pics just type my username under the gallery.

I'm glad you have an interest in hand feeding it seems most snakekeepers don't.All it takes is a little confidence and co-operative snakes and then its easy! With your ex-pertise you should have no problem at all. I started doing it with my nigrita and splendida and those two showed me the way,LOL!. And now I do it with just about all my 03's/04's. A few word's of caution though becareful of your fingers, I still use forceps with some, you should have bucket of water nearby to dunk them in just incase you get latched onto. This pic shows what I mean.
Looking forward to checking out your jungle corn and your gallery pics. GOOD LUCK, keep in touch and HAPPY HERPING to you too! JETZEN, sorry about the bad pic, i was stressed out at the time, lol!

I'm not gonna hand feed with this feeding. I've caught and released many sidewinders and rattlers before and never kept any of them expect this one that got into my garage and nearly bit me. I don't condone doing this type of feeding and will never do it again because I care for my snakes health too much and would want one getting bitten in the face (especially the eye). Kingsnakes definately are the king of snakes in North America!
Oh and Jetzen I'm and Oregon native also, just moved to AZ in '98. LOL............the herping is way better here.

You are a wise snakekeeper. Iv'e been to Az. several times 20yrs ago. I especialy liked Flag. and Tucson never saw any snakes tho only roadrunners and lots of lizards I guess alot of Az. snakes are nocturnal. Up here in Or. I only see garters and the occasional gopher tho I hear eastern Or. has some cool great basin stuff I'm gonna check it out one of these days. check out this pic

Found this Colorado Desert Shovel Nosed in the backyard, took a few pics then released it way away from civilization.

COOL specimen! Now about the rattler/king pic, that king is a true YUMA am i correct? I think thats a great looking animal. I'm on a list for some 05's. Arizona beats Oregon for herpin w/o a doubt!

Yes, it is a Yuma Kingsnake. However, according to the herpatology experts they are going or have reclassified the L. Yumansis (Yuma Kingsnake) as just another species of the Commmon California Kingsnake. I think it is still a grey area as to what the experts or scientist are going to classify the Yuma Kingsnake as. I happen to have a baby WC Yuma king (6-8 months old with a great temperment) that belongs to a friend of mine who is in the Arizona state prison system right now, but he should be getting out by the end of the year. Damn, I wish I could trade this or ship this snake to you for your collection but I wouldn't want to piss this felon off.
Happy Herping,
Uncloudy

When he gets out he may be interested in a trade in the future for this Yuma king.

JETZEN Oct 23, 2004 05:22 AM

Thats a great Hi-white but its not the same as the one(true yuma?) chowin down on the sidewinder. Anyway I'm on a list for a 1.1 yuma (thin banded type)for next year. Whada ya think of this 03' ab np cali?

Uncloudy Oct 23, 2004 08:45 PM

No, that was not a Yuma. It was one of my baby '04 Cali king 50/50. That is a beauty Cali king in your pic. NICE!
