temp issues

pyromanic666 Oct 17, 2004 11:10 AM

i checked the temp on my balls today and the temp was85 on the cool side and 104 on the hot spot! i immediately turned down the rheostat and i even aired out the cage a little. it was at this temp for about an hour and a half. all of my balls were on the cool side of their shoeboxes. so i hope they didnt get hurt! what do you guys think? they seemed ok but could the temps that high hurt them even if it was just 1 1/2 hours?

is the probe for the thermostat in the right spot? the thermostat is for the main heater (not visible, left top) and the rheostat is for the repti-therm UTH heat pads (under plastic tubs)
Temps are back to normal now.

Keep them hydrated and they should be ok.

Unless you have them in a cold area of the house or something...Then there is no reason to heat that large cage.As this would only raise the temperature of the cool end of the tubs they are in.

I think you need a rack for those tubs in order to get the proper temperature range. That way all the tubs would get heat tape at one end and not under them all.
Which would also make things easier for day to day mantinance.

Of course you always just could line them up in there(one level)with heat tape/pads under the rear of them all,and this would give you a good temp range.Just attach the probe to the rear(hot side)of one of those tubs this way.
