Covered in leaches

deviledapple Oct 17, 2004 11:22 AM

A turtle found its way into my (horribly green) pool awile ago, and i was jsut today able to catch him. THe poor guy is covered in leaches. I know i could probably get the ones on the underside of his shell off with a lighter, but im not about to attempt that on the ones on the inside of his shell. Anyone know of something i can do? or perhaps of any wildlife rehab type places i could drop him off? theres no way this many leaches is healthy, but im not about to do drop $ at a vet for a wild turtle. also, ive put him in a plastic tub, just for the time being, hes been in there myabe 15 minutes, and his shell is turning quite white. I've never seen a turtle dry out white like before, anyone have any advice? id really apreciate it, since i do feel rather responsible, since it was my pool he seems to have picked up these leaches in (which has now been thoroughly chlorinated, and will be shocked a few times before the sun goes down!)
