I have a Knight Anole....

bradburya Oct 17, 2004 05:22 PM

Hello,All

I have recently bought a male Knight Anole (Anolis equestris) and was wanting to find as much info on them as possible. I have some short caresheets on them. But I would like to attain more knowledge on them. He is a subadult right know a little over 16 inches. I plan on breeding him in the near future.I have had good luck in the past with breeding leopard geckos. I will post some pics soon when I am able to get some decent looking ones.

Belive it or not the reason it is hard to find a care sheet on Knight Anoles is because of how similar the care for them is compared to the green and brown anole. Now, granted, you have to keep in mind the size of the Knight.

"My" Recomendation on the size of the Teranium is the taller the better. I was thinking about a Knight Anole for my next reptile, and the size of my cage was going to be 48T X 36W X 24D (you can get this from cagesbydesign for 400 dollars if you get just the cage. Pricey but worth it)

Tempratures and humidity are the same as for the green anole, though I have seen some people recomend higher basking temps to simulate the more southern regions.

Substrate is pretty much standard anything from carpet to printless paper (nothing they might accidently ingest of course)

Food: Stick to the standard stuff, Crickets, mealworms (sparingly) Waxworms, silkies, etc. Stay away from feeding it other reptiles because this is just not healthy for many reasons.

Lighting is the same, Reptisun works great.

Hope this helps

Of course, because of their size, they will eat much larger feeders than A. sagrei or A. carolinensis. In fact, adult Lobster roaches are good and even pinkie mice.
