Hi, it's been awhile..questions for Redfoot people

Linda G Oct 17, 2004 06:14 PM

I went to the NARBC show in Chicago. I saw several Redfoots
that were for sale. Here is where I get confused???

My 2 year old Peabody is about 4.5" shell length. While looking
at 3 that were for sale, they had shell lengths of 7-8". They
were huge compared to mine and they were 2 years old. Should
mine be larger? A couple of them had very smooth shells so I
figured it couldn't be from overfeeding. The vendor was feeding
some animal protein. I thought this was unhealthy but they
didn't look unhealthy. Any comments on this?

Also, the speaker recommended Mazuri so I picked some up. How
often do I feed this and how much? Peabody really liked it!

Lastly, I am upgrading his enclosure again and wondered if I
had a humid hide would the rest of the enclosure need humid
substrate as well or could I use indoor/outdoor carpet?

Thanks
Linda

I'd find that hard to believe (7-8) inches in 2 years but it's not impossible.

I think a humid hide is actually more natural than a humid enclosure.

My RFs get Mazuri 2 times a week. I soak it, feed it and take away the leftovers.
