Gartersnake breeders in PA

aggrocroc Oct 17, 2004 10:47 PM

Hello, I'm looking for people who are breeding garters snakes in PA and/or who frequent the PA herp shows. I'm interested in getting some animals, but I'm not real keen on mailing herps, so I'd prefer to be able to either pick them up at a show or dierctly from you. If your are a breeder or know one in the area, please let me know. The species I'm most interested in are Oregon and Cali. redsided garters and Eastern Blacknecks.....also wouldn't mind Flames as well. Thanks for any help in getting a garter enthusiast started on his collection and eventual breeding projects.

I have 3 Cali Red-Sideds, but I don't live in PA.

Hi,
I may be able to help you with flames in the spring.I always attend the Hamburg show.I am right above Philadelphia.Cali red sides are afuture project. You might want to check out gradeareptiles next spring. He just picked up 2.2 sub adult Cali redsides and 1.1 sub adult blacknecks. He is in Jersey.

Thanx....I'll keep you in mind this spring for the flames. I really missed out at this past Hamburg show....some one told me that someone was selling flames for $60 males and 80$ females (subadults)....I wouldn't have believed it, except the person who told me showed me the male he had picked up. He said that they went SUPER fast! Figures, the one time I decide to hit Hamburg later in the day!!!! Thanx again and I'll have to give GradeA a look next spring too. Let me know if you find anyone who's got Cal.redsides available.

yes, I hope to have some this spring. I do have the eastern black necks, but the deal on the red sideds has not been finalized yet...close though.

I love that flame!!! Anytime you want to trade, let me know!!!!

Yes, someone told me about those flames as well! I saw the male for $60 but didn't pick him up because they had no females for him. He was nice looking, but not nice enough to buy as a loner male.

I saw those snakes. The female was over 2 1/2 feet. She was low end but still worth $80.

wow, for that price, I'm surprised you didn't buy them, Tom! What held you back? Low end females could still crank out some nice babies.

I decided to look at all the tables first. If it was there when I was done then I would buy it.It was gone when I was done.

Isn't that how it always works. You see something and think, well I'll see what else is around and if it's still there I'll pick it up......and it almost never is! Hey that's a sharp pic of your flame morph.....very nice looking snake.
