fresh seafood

Has anyone ever gone to the local fish market, and bought, say, a pound or so of fresh fish fillets and fed them to their turtles?
I feed my turtles a variety of seafoods. Fresh caught fish like silversides, or spearing, or smelt...whatever you call them.Frozen shrimp, etc. But I was wondering,if I got a few fresh fillets, such as flounder, and fed them bits, if they'd eat it.
Would sure solve the problem of trying to catch my own in the winter.
I live in a seacoast town, so fresh fish is always available. There are fish markets everywhere.
If salt water fish dont do the job, I can even get trout.
I'm thinking if they already eat fish, why not store bought fish.
Has anyone ever tried this? If so, what type of fish did you feed?

You could try it as PART of the diet. Turtles couldn't get everything they need from just a filet.

I feel better cooking the shrimp I give my turtles as a treat, for the same reason I don't eat raw meat. I just put a piece or two in a cup with a little water, and microwave for about a minute, then let cool.

i know when i was a kid and we had painted turtles, mmy dad fed them fillet fish sometimes, and they always gobbled it up just as happily as live fish.

Fresh seafood is OK if it is whole fish with the bones and the internal organs. One risk with fish is the presence of an enzyme that breaks down B vitamins. This effect is amplified in frozen seafood. By the way, many people think this applies only to Cyprinid fish such as goldfish, but it is present in nearly the same amount in all fish. It is not harmful if you feed other items, including a nutritionally balanced commercial food, such as Reptomin etc.

It is OK as long as it is whole fish with bones and internal organs?
I'm pretty certain it is ok even without innards and bones...provided you feed as nature intended...a varied diet.
I was just curious if anyone fed this type of fish.
Chances are, my next trip to the store, my turtles will be eating some sort of fillet.
Now what to serve as a side dish?
