is anyone out there??

janome Oct 18, 2004 08:18 AM

i'm usually on the snake forums so it doesn't look like these amphibian forums are very active but wanted to see if anyone can ans my question...

i have 3 fire belly toads in a mostly aquatic 10 gallon setup. i have the gravel pushed up to one side with a fake log to help hold it up and couple other rocks. this is their 'get out the water' side. they seem to love it. there is also a couple fake plants and a filter on the water side.

are there any little fish that can live in the water with the toads since it's filtered? thanks.

Hi, You can indeed put small fish with fire-bellied toads, but be prepared to have some eaten by your anurans. We have maintained fish such a guppies, Heterandria and Gambusia (the latter two both wild-collected) with fire-bellies of at least 4 species. The fish coexist well and occasionally provide a welcome change of diet for the frogs. Rgds/Dick
