isn't she a cutie? She stilllll needs a name! i was thinking of naming her something from mythology, cuz thas what i did with some of my other pets...anyone have any name suggestions? Also, the pet store told me that its a girl, can you tell when their so little still?? They also said she's a het. for anery but i dunno what that means, lol, i just think she's cute!

I named my blue beauty brunhilde, but shes also a b*tch on wheels lol...very active loves to fight back. you may also want to look at songs...maybe one that has some tie to the region you live in? I named my licorice stick and black rat frankie and lola from the jimmy buffett song, since i lived in pensacola, or maybe look at movies. i now wish i had named all of them names from the deadly viper assasination squad from kill bill, lol.

Yes, it is possible to sex the snakes as soon as they come out of the egg. At this age, it's usually done through "popping", and while not fool-proof, it is reliable. So, think of some girl names.

They also said she's a het. for anery but i dunno what that means, lol, i just think she's cute!
That's genetics talk. Het for anery means that she looks like a normal corn, but she carries the gene for Anerythrism. If you want to know what an anery looks like, just imagine your snake without any red coloration on her body. Basically, if you breed your girl with a male that is Anerythristic, you have a 50% chance of producing Anerythristic young. Or if you cross her with a male that is "het for anery", you have a 25% chance of producing Anery young, 25% chance for normals, and a 50% chance of babies that are also het for anery. Just a quick, simplified lesson in genetics, in case you were interested.

As for the name, I'm not much help there. I still have to come up with names for 6 of my corns. But, if you want to stay mythological, how about Antigone or Persephone? Of course, Medusa is an ever-popular name for a snake. Let us know what you decide. Take care...

These are the names of all our snakes, I think. Here goes.
Norma, Lightning, Mel, Annie, Hillary, Angus. Olathe, Oringo, Dubya, Zeus, Zepher, Zander, Xena, Athena, Shena, Pandora, Medusa, Ceasar, Cleo, Morpheus, Ozzy, and Bandit. I think that is everyone. I dont know if there is a pattern there or not. I also have two iguanas named Herman and Lilly, and a gecko named Larry. Good luck on naming your baby.

Haha! Herman and Lilly, that's awesome! I almost named my pair of Trans-Pecos Rats the same thing. But we decided on Rob and Laura (Dick van Dyke Show). Gotta love TV Land!
