black crested

hey up the northeast they just opened a new petco and let me say it had the nicest reptile section for a pet store, anyway they were selling cresteds and they had them in a very nice setup, nice and tall, not cramed into one of those 10gal.my question was that one of them was almost black, it was like a charcol color with some gray and white, ive seen alot of pics online but never one this dark, it was only 50 and i was wondering if anybody knew what morf this was and if that was a good price for it. I have two now that are about 2 to 3 months old, the one at the store was about the same, would it be ok to put it in with my two, i have them in one of those crested cages from reptiledepot.like i said it was very nice looking and they looked very well taking care of.

If you were to buy it, do not put it in with your other ones. No matter how good it looks, it's only common sense to quarantine it in a cage by itself for 6-8 weeks, at least I always do. Then, unless your cage is quite large with lots of hiding places, I would still keep juvies past a few months of age separate because I had one juvie chew the tail pads off 2 juvies in with it when they were still young. I have a fire male from Sandfire which ranges in color from jet black with white fire and fringes to tan with cream fire and fringes, depending on his mood and the time of day.
