Tree Frog Question

printmaker Oct 18, 2004 01:45 PM

Some time ago we saw a tiny tree frog - attached to the outside of the window of our kitchen door. (I took a picture of it)! Later - a couple of times when watering a houseplant that lives outdoors on the deck for the summer - the little guy leaped out of the plant into the bushes! We didn't see him after that.

A few days ago, I brought the plant in for the winter & put it on a table by the winter. That evening we heard a loud 'chirping' coming from the table area. I grabbed the plant & took it back outside!!

My question(s) - is it possible that the frog has hibernated at the base of that plant (do they do that)? The plant can't stay outside in the cold weather. How can I be sure that it's 'frog free' when I bring it in?? We don't really want a tree frog for a house pet!

Well yeah they do hibernate in plants, under bark, etc. Well you'd have to just look on/in the plant very thoroughly, lift up loose sections of the main stem/trunk.
