Why no Golden Greeks For Sale

j_h_smith Oct 18, 2004 03:52 PM

Why are there so few Golden Greek tortoises for sale in the U.S.? I haven't seen 6 for sale in the last 6-8 months. Are these guys that rare?

Thanks!

Some were for sale at the Hamburg, PA, show recently.

Since these are wild-caught, imported animals selling relatively cheaply, it's probably better that they AREN'T showing up in droves. Or, perhaps, we're seeing a decline in the numbers because it's either 1) harder to find them in the wild now or 2) harder to get them out-of-country or import them into the US.

Do you know who was selling them?
Better yet, do you have a contact number or web page?

Thanks!
