Not long ago I read a thread regarding someone’s panther cham dying b/c of the stress caused by the new zoomed powersun bulb. I couldn’t remember the forum so I searched all of the ones I typically visit – but still couldn’t find it. So, sorry for bringing this up again if it was this forum.

My question was the exposure time. I have a powersun 100 on the entire time the lights are on. I use it in conjunction with a zoomed reptisun 5.0 (top of cage towards the back) and a 150w basking bulb (side mounted). My cage is 4x2x2. I like the bulb since it lights up the cage nicely and adds a bit of needed heat. My cham (veiled – 6 months - M) enjoys it too. He will bask under it (the bulb is 12” away) every so often. I have read that it may not be a good idea to have these bulbs on the entire daylight time – maybe no more then 6-8 hours – or was that just for panther chams? I have also read that you may need an area of the cage where the animal can get away from UVA/B rays - completely. I can understand that with some shade loving species such as parsonii but what about veileds? Should I be limiting the time the powersun is on? Should I not use the reptisun and stick with the powersun? I have used the powersun for about 3 months and haven’t seen a change in physical appearance or behavior.

A lot of these questions were addresses in the thread I am looking for – just cant find it!

Thanks in advance.
