I just got home from this tiny herp show, and there was a snake there that I want to learn more about but I can't remember what it is called. I know the name started with an "A" (not an anaconda). It was a beautiful grey color with large black splotches down its back. I think it was a pretty common pet-type snake because this show was very small and none of the booths had anything too extravagant (mainly leopard geckos, bearded dragon, ball pythons, and corn snakes). If anyone could help me remember what kind of snake I saw I'd really appreciate it.

Perhaps an Angolan python? (P. anchietae)

A gray-banded kingsnake, Lampropeltis alterna, perhaps. They're quite variable in color and pattern, but all are very pretty. Herpers commonly refer to them as "alterna".
