What ealisly obtained species of water turtle stays the smallest as an adult?

Mud and Musk turtles are your best bet. Muds tend to like a large land area as compared to Musks. Muds will readilt bask, as mucks not so much. Still both are great!

Where do you live? There are some muds available for adoption at www.petfinder.com, but it's too cold to ship for most places.

There are also a lot more captive bred muds and musks available these days. Remember, they like shallow water, and they can be very territorial.
