Hi,
It sounds like you may have to take him to a vet, just to be sure. I wouldn't have thought many wc tokays would be docile, unless long term captive which is used to people. If it is a respirartory problem, I dont think it will go away by itself.
Keep him warm, slightly warmer on the hot side then normal. But make sure theres still a cool side. Keep the set up simple with a few hides and plants and make sure theres fresh water available for him. Either mist the tank and/or have a dish. He could get dehydrated.
One thing with the supplements is that please make sure you use one which contains vitamin d3. I made this mistake. I thought tokays only needed calcium, but calcium alone is not enough. I recently lost my female tokay to MBD (after 2 years of keeping her) through lack of d3, even though she was reguarly supplimented with calcium.
I order through www.livefoods.co.uk but i dont know if they ship dry goods overseas (if your outside the uk). Your local petstore should stock brands like T'rex.
Hope you tokay is ok!
Claire
>>I recently got three tokays (wild caught of coarse) at a show. The sellers obviously knew nothing about the animals, but they gave me a good deal so i bought them anyway.
>>
>>anyway, two of the geckos resist handling and will try to escape or eat me. The other is many times more docile. when I picked up the third one today, he was very calm, and opened up his mouth half way, and i noticed what appeared to be a mucus/slime bubble in his mouth, more than i have noticed in the others.
>>
>>now the amount of fluid in his mouth may, in actuality, be normal, but that, combined with his untypical docile nature has led me to believe he is sick.
>>
>>is there anything I should look for??? any other symptoms?? and if it is something like a respirartory infection, do i just leave him be (he is in quarintine) or is there something i can do to help him?
>>
>>Thanks,
>>Nicholas Gutierrez
