My guess is that it is the larvae of the Paradox frog. Their tadpoles can reach almost a foot in length but the actual adult frogs are barely 2 inches long. Thus the name paradox. My .02

I don't know. The guy said that it is bigger than both your hands put together, and when you hold it the legs come down to your elbow, and wiegh 3lbs I realy belive that it is a hybrid. this is what the magzine says about them. pic is below. I realy don't think they would famr frogs that are very small becaus eI think they sell to food places too. I have eten frog legs before. They taste good. I don't think I would buy frog legs that are only about 1" long. I don't eat frog legs anymore because I don't really like killing off our amphibians evn though they are bred in thousands or millions. It still bother me. I was just too lazy to type all of that column sorry.
Justin

I don't know if this will help or if this is a pic of one of those giants or just a normal bull.

Looks a lot like a reg bull...the tadpole doesn't even resemble a bullfrog. Besides, I doubt most of these "mutant hybrid" tadpoles, if that is what they are, are fertile... Not a naturally occuring hybrid if it is one...Andy

I didn't think the tadpole resembled a bullfrog tad either. Maybe they gave them the frog version of steroids, or maybe hormones to make them get that big? I am forever a skeptic when it comes to these things.

*~Ginevive~*
you mention hybred, but between what 2 species? thanks
I was thinking the same thing. Maybe they got them from near a nuclear power plant. LMAO Mutant frogs, they'll grow up and be liek the teengae mutant ninja turtles. Oh I'm killin myself here. I better stop before i piss someone off, or make someone else die of laughter.
I tried to find something about the tadpole on the net, but all I came up with was a bunch of very nasty mature stuff.
Before I thought that all hybrids were infertile, but the georgia giant bream is a hybrid. I don't know of what 2 species it is.Maybe they just screw arround with genes uder the microscope. The only for sure way to know is to get one and see what it turns into. Or I can just talk to ken himself and see exactly how big it is or if they can send me a pic of an adult frog. Hey wait a minute. I just thought about. I can e-mail them for a pic. Why did we not do this before? I'll just e-mail the guys right now after I post, asking for a pic of the adult frog if it is a possibility. Or try getting them on here to joinn our discussion on this and let them explain to all of us and or post a pic on here. I'll keep you posted.
Justin
Most hybrids that require hormones to breed (which is a large majority in frogs with a few notable exceptions) are not sterile it seems. Or at least it is highly unlikely that they would be. Andy

Lol i knew it
Lol,i knew it.
hey guys, i did a little more searching around today and found this http://www.newsherald.com/articles/2000/02/27/wa022700b.htm
maybe getting one is not so hard after all, you think?
I doubt that frog (if it is the one he saw) was 6 lbs. Most african bullfrog males hit 4 at best. I want to see the exact frog that comes from that tadpole as that tadpole doesnt in any way, shape or form resemble a bullfrog's. I see hundreds of bullfrog tadpoles every year. Even if fed more than in the wild, they do not look like that. Something is fishy here, IMHO. I want to know more...like from someone that goes there. Andy

Well the ones I have been catching and have caught this year resemble that tadpole. There is no difference to me.
Almost all of them I see are normally green, normally a light green, with some brown blotches. Even the young froglets still look just like the tadpoles do, or atleast around here they do. Andy

You must have a different species then me.
All bullfrogs are the same species, Rana catesbeiana. Andy

Tch. Yeah right.
How can you say they arn't? All other species of bullfrog are just given that by their common name. They are normally labled S.A. bullfrog, or african bullfrog, and sometimes the asian painted frog is considered to be the Asian bullfrog. If you don't want to listen to me, don't. But I am right. Doesn't mean the tads have to look the same.
True. Not all look the same. But for the most part, a species follows a distinct set of guidelines. Otherwise, how could anyone tell Hyla cinerea tadpoles from young Rana catesbeiana tadpoles. They might not look exactly the same, but they should at least resemble each other very closely (with the exception of abberancies). Andy
