New Bearded Please Help!!!!!!

wsurugby10 Oct 18, 2004 08:01 PM

I just bought a 75 gallon tank and I was wondering if I could house two beardies in there? I'm pretty new to the species so any help would be great. I was also wondering a little about feeding. What am I getting myself into with these guys? How much do I feed them and how often do I feed them? If someone out there could tell me exactly what they feed their beardies that would be awesome. Thanks for your time and help

Not sure about the tank since I only have one. Here is how I feed Homer though...

He eats twice a day, roughly 35 crix each time. Yeah its a lot, but he is 4.5 months old and is a growing boy. I also give him a couple silkworms every day. He loves them and they are actually healthier than crix, but a lot more expensive. Since my guy is still young, I have been dusting the crix once a day, every day with RepCal Calcium/D3 supplement. I also dust them every 4 days with vitamins supplement.

As for what you're getting into, I have been having a blast. Homer is finally comfortable with me holding him and loves to run around my living room exploring.

While a 75gal would be big enough for a breeding tank, I wouldn't recomend having 2 of them live together. For food issues check out www.beautifuldragons.com it's a great site and she explains everything.

I forgot to add.....

I also put a fresh salad in his food bowl every morning. I have been using collard greens or dandelion greens mostly. I also usually add a little bit of diced up squash, peas, or greenbeans.

Hello,

I have two adult beardies in a 75g tank. I have had no problems keeping them together. We had them in the tank together as juveniles. We did have to seperate them when they grew up. We have a male and a female. You can keep them together as long as they are both females. If you have a male and female I would seperate them (unless you want a lot of babies). If you have two males you will NEED to seperate them. Just for your info, we still have the male and female in the same tank, I just put a piece of plexiglass in between them.
