I heard from a friend that the Columbus Ohio reptile show was raided by DNR today. Anyone who was there that could shed some light on this subject, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Jason

When I got there yesterday morning, about an hour after the show should have opened, there was an ODNR (I think that is what it was) truck blocking the parking lot and a ton of people standing around. Somebody said they were inspecting all the vendors. We waited half an hour or so but then just went home. I don't know if the show ever opened.
Not sure if this is true, but one of the people waiting told me there was a concern b/c prarie dogs had been being sold there the last few shows, and the monkey pox thing...
Hopefully things will go better next month!
Christy
It had nothing to do with Monkey pox it was a endangered and threatened spiecies raid. here is a link for more info.

Now we're greedy people stripping the snake of its rapidly disappearing populations of albino black ratsnakes and red eared slider.
I heard a portion of the 'busts' were for CITES animals from different continents, but I don't think the media's smart enough to understand that concept.

Yeah, I am waiting for my Eastern Indigo to hatch and the NYS DEC are such butt heads (sorry, I have to call a spade a spade) and I had a bunch of junk to go through. Then they need the reciept proving it CBB. Like I am nest raiding? Like Indigos barely occur in NY. That and this is the people who first sent me an application for venomous for this....I called to correct them and it took ten minutes on hold for the girl to admit I knew more then her. "I need an endangered species permit, not a venomous for an Indigo" "Are you sure?" "Pretty sure"
I don't mind them doing what is lawful etc. But it bugs me that the pet stores all over the state sell all sorts of illegal stuff and they don't do a thing. Of course the fact that the NYS DEC now consists of a computer network and 13 warm bodies might have something to do with that.
But rarely does the media pick up something positive about herps. we are still in the Garden of Eden with the serpent.
