Misting system question

treet0ph00ligan Oct 18, 2004 09:27 PM

Right now I just use a squirt bottle to mist, are there any watering systems I can build(quite handy), or buy? I've seen waterfalls that go into the encloser are these any good?

Thanks again.

im not sure about building a mister, i bet you could but, i would have no idea how. right now im going to buy an automatic mister. waterfalls are a lot of work. you have to constantly clean them for bacteria. some chams may not like it anyway and it is possible for them to drown in them.

There are two ways you can go here. First is a "Do It Yourself project" Below is a link to an article. The other way is a bit cheaper and a bit easier then using what you already are. If you go down to your local hardware store and just a buy a two gallon "bug sprayer" similar to what you would your to spray pesticide around the yard you will not have to refill your container nearly as much. The bug sprayer can be pumped up as well so it sprays alot nicer the a regular spray bottle. We use the bug sprayer with a few of our cages.

I glad you asked I was going to.My veild seems like he is always thirsty.I mist him about every 3rd time I pass his cage(which is a lot because right now it is right beside the path to the kitchen)Every time I mist him he runs to the spot I spraded.Sometimes putting his head directly in front of the spray bottle.

I may be a bit premature in posting about my new mister made from pieces and parts that i gathered. it seems to be working but no long term testing yet.

the idea is stolen fair and square from :

http://www.trix.com/binx/mister/

with some substitions...
A) for the solenoid valve i am using a water control valve from a washing machine
B) for the mist nozzle i am using a .5 gph humidifier nozzle.

those two parts where easier to find without having to pay shipping than the ones listed in the artical sited above
