Colored spots on Beardie pics

nu2beardies Oct 18, 2004 09:59 PM

Hello all, as my name implies, I am new to these little guys. Looking at several pics of Beardies on the net, I have seen quite a few with one or two colored spots on them. They have obviously been touched up as sometimes they will be a color like flourescent pink. I will try and attach a pic of one I found. Is this to cover damage to the animals skin?

The colored spots are for identification purposes. They are not to cover anything up they are just there so they can keep track of the dragon. 30 babies X Multiple clutches = Confusion
hence the different colored spots. Good luck and good question.

What Randy said. Also it is usually fingernail polish or sharpie marker that will come off when it sheds. Each breeder has their own color coding system for clutch#, sex, baby# etc. No need to worry about it and nobody's trying to hide anything lol.

Randy, thanks for the straight up answer to a straight up question.
Sean, I dont see the humor in it. I have never seen colored markings on animals before and I'm sure others new to the hobby have the same question. I assumed it was photo chopped for some reason. It's people like you that prevent people from asking a question for fear of being ridiculed.

Dude, lighten up I found it slightly amusing. You're right it's a VERY common beginner question, another one is "what to the .'s mean between numbers? example 1.2.5" (Just FYI or anyone else that is reading male.female.unsexed . And I did help answer your question not just laugh.

Now that one was way to funny. Mine had a 10 on her belly. and a blue dot on her leg. she must have been touched up 10 times or something. LOL
Heck and i thought it was just some new kind of morph with bright colors and numbers. DARN

First...WELCOME! and forgive Sean, he really is a great help here and other sites. He's answered some great questions for me on another site, and he's just got a great sence of humor.
Anyway enjoy yourself here, and ask what ever questions you have!

hey, my kids and I were trying to pick out the one with the 'nicest' color spot at the base of it's tail when we bought our dragon at a reptile show-the breeder/seller let us go on with our naive fiasco for some time before explaining their meaning!
