shedding

gemdreamer Oct 18, 2004 10:29 PM

Hi, im not new to Leopard Geckos, but something is going on that ive not seen before. ive acquired several young Leos and they are not properly shedding, its not coming off in large pieces, it slowly coming off in small pieces like we do when we sunburn.

im thinking there may not be enough humidity in the tank, i spray it at least once a day and im only using a undertank heater at night. ive never had this happen before with any of my adults.

Anyone have any clues? or suggestions id like to solve this problem. one more thing, i have this one juvenile, she is really dark, not bright in color at all i thought maybe she is just getting ready to shed. but its been awhile so im not sure.

Thanks

The best thing to do is to make a humid hide. You can use peat moss or terrarium moss, sold at petco/petsmart. All you have to do is take some of the moss, make a surface of it under the hide, and then spray it every few days, but spray it right when you see the first sign of a shed about to happen. The humidity will help the skin come off easier, and when you spray the cage feel free to spray them. Hope that helps.
