Odd Question for you guys

This is not directly related to beardies, but the beardie forum seems to be the most active and full of the best regulars. Anyways, I've noticed that in most people's post signitures they list their pets. For example, so and so's signiture might look like this.

1.1 beardid dragons
2.1.2 corn snakes
etc.

What is this numerical system? How does it work? Who created it? Everyone seems to use it. I simply don't get it. Explain! Thanks. -Sam.

male.female.unsexed for example if you've got 3 boys 2 girls and 22 babies it would be 3.2.22
