Annabella update

beanjacksahead Oct 19, 2004 01:10 AM

I got a fresh stool sample earlier this night. It was less then it should be with all those limabeans she ate in the last week, still less solid then usual. The strange thing to me as I still am not clear on there stool is that the white part that I had mentioned in a past post was what came out first. It was solid and gradualy more gooy and then atached to the normal looking part which again, was not normal. When I put it in the container it even made a tapping sound. Just so you know she had been trying to get out for a long time so I picked her up to calm her down when she went so it was not on sand or anything that could have made it tap it was solid. It's got me thinking maby she's dehydrated and sick, do these sound like more symptoms of something serrious? I found two reptile vets listed that are nearby and plan on calling tomorow.
I got her new rocks set up and she's very curious of them just a little off. The light is closer now so it's alot more direct heat then she's used to. She could get just as much heat but prefers to sit on the rock and pant. Is that normal or a sign she's dehydrated?
Thanks again to all those who've helped me with Annabella since I got her.
Josh

the white part is more like pee and the other part is more like poo in comparason to a human. if you are collecting a sample for the vet, you will need the poo part only, at least that is what my vet asks for. is she eating lettuces at all? usually they get their water from them. if she is not eating them, perhaps she could be dehydrated some.
as for the panting, that is normal. it is their way of releasing heat when they don't feel like moving out of the heat's way. all of my lizards do it.
let us know what the vet says about her. if you can afford it, check ups are never a bad thing

Is it normal that the white part was already hard befor coming out? Maby she absorbed the water from it, that's what made me think shes dehydrated. She does eat a bit of her greens now, also she's started to take a liking to zuchini yesterday when I offered it. I'll get back about the vet then soon.
Thanks.

yay! i am glad that she is eating other things than lima beans. i thought for sure that she was going to turn into one
i have never noticed helga's white part being hard, but then again i have never really examined it so i don't feel experienced enough to say if that is normal or not. sorry that i don't have a better answer for you.

Her poo seems fine now but the white thing is hard still. Mainly it was the clink it made that scared me and look at it so I had a reason. I think I'll start a new thread about it if no one sais anything befor tomorrow. I called the vet but was not in the the mood to get info because one was an answering service and the other was a secritary so I just got the prices of the one I talked to who is also alot closer and will call again tomorrow. I'm still going to bring a sample in just to see what they say. Do they do any other tests other then parasit tests?
Ya, I'm realy glad too . She's even been getting out by her self today and last evning. The only missfortune is that she's back to her habit of trying to get out like a mad woman once she gets bored. Oh well, at least she feeling like her self again! Even a little less cautious of me so that's good too.

i know that they can do bloodwork but that can get pretty pricy. i think that they test it for calcium levels and other nutrient levels. good luck with the vet
