Help! Need advice on sick 1 year old female

mikePA Oct 19, 2004 11:32 AM

One of our 2 females seems to be ill. She is still eating but very little (a few crix) every other day or so. Without being too lengthy here's the scoop:
Two 1 year old females housed in 65 gallon long tank.
One of the females(Xena) is perfectly fine, the other one(Mia) over the last 2 weeks or so has become lethargic, lost weight, sleeps alot and is not looking very good at this point(excess skin etc).
Diet in the past veggies dusted with T-rex dragon dust and superworms every other day (6-7 each). 5 days ago switched back to crickets, waxworms to see if that would help Mia. It hasn't and she is too weak(or lazy to chase crickets down to eat them). We soaked her in warm water and she pooped. Since she hasn't been eating much at all she poops every few days now. I have been advised to give her gatorade as she is probably dehydrated but any other advice you all could give us we would sincerely appreciate it. We live in Collegeville PA 19426 and really don't know of any Vets that specialize in reptiles in our area. Cage temps at night are now obviously lower and basking area during the day now struggles to reach 100 but Mia seems to lay in the shade underneath the driftwood anyway and sleep. Mia never goes close to the light to warm herself. Xena seems to be fine, eating basking etc. You can reply here or email us at vntgmbk@msn.com.
Thanks!
Mike

Well my initial thought was brumation but that doesn't explain the weight loss. Parasites possibly? I'd get a fecal run, any vet should be able to do it whether or not they specialize in reptiles, a basic checkup wouldn't hurt either. I'd also get her away from the other female. If she does have something you will want to contain it. Also I would go with pedialite over gatorade, it has less sugar in it.
