Green Gopher???

mrreptile Oct 19, 2004 02:10 PM

I had this individual hatch out of one of my clutches this year. I had another from the same parents hatch out 2 years before (I'll post his pic next) But the color is really unusual. It looks simular to that of glow in the dark objects during the day while you charge them, you know that light green color. I thought for sure if I put her in the sun all day she would glow for a bit at night lol. Anyway I don't think it is axethantic (sp?) or anery. But I have only breifly seen axethantic gophers before and I didn't pay too close of attention to detail such as any green coloration. Also I would imagine an axethantic snake wouldn't produce greens since the yellow pigment is probably necessary to also produce green (but like I said I don't know for sure just a guess).

This is the picture of the older male from a couple years back his green shows up a bit better (I shouldn't have used a blue back drop while trying to take pics of green coloration, sorry)

Hi Shaun
The green color doesn't show up well in your picture , either way its pretty nice looking . Thats one I would like to see in person.

Yeah, The picture doesn't really do justice (it looked better on the camera) but like I said It is a really light green nothing like a tree boa or anything. I'll see if it shows up better on different back grounds.

Alright this one is a lot better but still doesn't do the snake justice. This one I took under photo lamps instead of outside where it got really bleached out. I also put her on the underside of a grapeleaf so that you can compare the interspacing between blotches to the green color of the leaf.
