I dont really keep Uromastyx, however have worked with them and kept them in the past. I was in PetsMart yesterday, and they had a Mali Uro. Now petsmart is obviously not a reptile store, so i took it upon myself to check his enclosure out, as i had found metabolic bone disease in a beardie there once. the uro had what seemed to be birdseed in his enclosure as his food. I never heard of that. It may have been some other type of food, but it was def. some seeds of some type. Has anyone ever heard of uro being fed seeds. I have helped this store out in the past with their reptiles and try to help out where i can, they dont know much about reptiles there. thanks

uros enjoy seeds and its ok to feed them. did they have anything else in there? they should have other foods also? like greens.

yea, the second time i was in there there was some kale or some type of greens in there. how much of their diet can be based on seeds? can it be used as a staple or just a dietary enrichment?

It should be a supplement, but some people have expressed that they leave a small container of the seeds in the tanks at all times. It really depends on whether the Uro will still eat the greens if he can graze on the seeds all the time...
