Hey i'll just tell you how I made those beauties, the father is a corn and the mother the king. I placed them together along with a female corn to trick the male. My snakes are very tame, and they didnt mind me messing with them, I just made sure the female corn stayed up where the male could smell her, and kept her tail away from his 
I hope it's this easy this spring!
As for your other questions, I hope one of the experts here can answer, because I am just as curious. One thing I heard is that kings stay hooked up longer than corns, and if the male is a king and female a corn the corn will get impatient after a while and try to get away possibly injuring one or both snakes. I dont know, just something I heard.
