came home to daughter with this in a oatmeal can found in northern arkansas. on road. any help identifyin it would great she gets extra credit in science for bring in native critters. then they are released

I would say that's a young Northern Water Snake.

Nerodia sipedon pleuralis. The range of the northern doesn't quite reach Arkansas.
