Rough Love...

Rich_Crowley Oct 19, 2004 08:35 PM

Well, here I am sitting at my computer after putting two of my large borneos together, again. I tried this last week and the resulting tossle ended in a shattered pain of glass on one of my Vision cages. This is the second time my borneos roughed it up and broke glass and this was between a male and female! So, what is my lesson learned? I tossed them in a larger cage and stood over them as they danced around their first series of introductions--and took some measure to keep the glass in place.

If you never experience breeding pythons, you really don't know what you are missing. Just throw a couple of borneos together (I have one named The Rock for good reason) and you get to see all the "classic" courtship signs within minutes! This includes spurring which I have digitally recorded, cloacal gaping (as I type this), sensual hissing-at least from a snake's perspective and the wonderful slamming by the male when he has given up chasing. Oh, Oh, did I forget to mention flatulant urination! Ahhh, amore!

Woop there goes the slam again!

See what you get when you work too much.....

Hey Rich,
Awesome, would love to see that video. Can't help being a bit of a voyeur when it comes to these guys. Pass it on! LOL!

Wow! I have bred a lot of borneos and bloods and have never seen that kind of rough love. You wouldn't even know mine are breeding right now unless you open the cage and look in. If that happened at my house I would have guessed that I had two males together. You much have some latino borneos (very passionate), lol........

Sounds like a very interesting sight indeed! I remember the spurring vid you posted, but this sounds even more intriguing. Might be time to bodify one of those cages for some thick plexiglass for the big boy lol! Good luck with them.
