What size rat/mouse should I feed a juvenile sav?

savana_man Jun 28, 2003 08:48 PM

He's only 2 or 3 months old. I haven't measured him latley. I want to start a rat or mouse colony, but which one should I start to get a size he can eat. I don't care about when he gets older because when he gets bigger if I have mice i'll feed them off and get rats. But should I start with a rat colony or mouse colony?

Even when its larger, and can possibly eat a rat, mice are fine. Small amounts of food more often digest way better than big amounts.
Mice also breed faster, grow up faster. D.

My savannah monitor is about a foot now and I feed him pre-killed thawed small mice (just started doing), not fuzzies. DONT feed your monitor small mice unless the size of your monitors head is at least the size of the mouse or bigger.
