kristin May 15, 2003 08:11 AM

.. i put my male and female in together yesterday evening and MAN was he LIVID. he turned very pale and his beard turned pitch black. he shut his eyes and started breathing VERY heavily and slowly. he stayed like that for about 10 minutes after i put him back in his home. he did not care for his bathtime at all. i rarely ever bathe them but am going to get back into the habit this spring.
does anyone's else's beasties behave like this? i was hoping to see them take to the water and swim around like little gators, but NOPE. i was denied.. anyway let me know how yours react! thansk -k

i think they kind of soak in the water so i try not to leave them in for too long. every time i bath them they feel very bloated and tight. but ive never had one the liked a bath.

Some like em, some don't. it just all depends on the dragon I guess. when mine was little, i used to try and put him in a small rubbermaid container with shallow water, and he flipped out. he didnt want anything to do with the water, and he tried furiously to climb out of the container. i tried the bath a few more times be he didnt like it, so i stopped, and just continued to spray him down with a squirt bottle instead, which he likes.
Then i just tried again last night. Since he's an adult now, i just filled the bathtub with shallow enough water. i put him in, and he just sat there. his colors got brighter, but his body puffed up...and he just sat there looking up at me like "whats wrong with you? why am i in here?". he didnt move the whole time. (and i was all excited to see him swim around like a gator too...what little brats they are )

i have 2 little beardies about 10 months old and they love the baths. Sometimes i put water in a big flower pot saucer thing (i forget what its called, it goes under the flower pot so the water doesnt leak) and put it in their cage, and they swim around in it, and if the water isnt deep enough they use their legs to splash it on their backs, which is really cute. Unfortunately my older dragon despises bathtime and puffs up and his beard darkens, i dont like to stress him out too much so he gets less baths.
