Crested Enclosures

agrrlandherguy Oct 20, 2004 02:12 AM

My husband just finished building the enclosures for our new Crested's. We received our male and female today from Shawn at StickyFeetExotics. The two enclosures are divided by plexi-glass in the middle so that they can still see each other, but are not able to breed. The ventilation is done by plexi-glass panels on the sides with holes drilled in them.

Just thought I would share.

Thanks.

Ellena

Very nice!! Probably should put more stuff for them to climb on and use the entirety of the cage instead of just the walls. How do you keep the humidity up in that cage?

Funny, that was my exact reaction also. It only needs a couple of nice long branches running diagonally in the cages, and some cork tubes. Do the plant lights go off at night, I hope? If the only ventilation is from holes in small plexi panels, I would be more concerned about lack of fresh air movement than holding humidity. (I've gotten 6 cresteds from Shawn at Sticky Feet and they are all great.)

Besides the fact that when I am in the office (that is where the cages are) the doors will always be open.... we have not quite perfected this plan yet. Like I said this was ust completed last night so it will still be a work in progress for some time.

The cages construction was just finished yesterday so everything is not set up yet. More wood and plants are on order so that they will be able to use the entire cage, but for now they will have to wait a week. I didn't know I was getting these guys until Friday and they got here on Tuesday. Hence the quickness of everything being thrown together.

I will be misting 2X a day, morning and night, and kinda adapting things as we go. The lights go off at night as well.
