Columbus or Indianapolis

billcherep Oct 20, 2004 09:51 AM

I just moved from NYC so no more White Plains and Philly Shows. Now I live in Louisville and have the option to drive 3 hours on Sat. to the show in Columbus OH or 2 hours Sunday in Indianapolis. Any info on either would be great?
Thanks.

I live in Indy and have been to every show for the past year. I'm going to the Ohio show this Saturday to pick up a Centralian Python and Crested Gecko from Don Hamper. Will you be looking for anything in particular? I might be able to tell you if you might find it at the Indy show and possibly recommend breeders.

Or just go to both and make it a nice weekend of reptile shows!

Thanks for your reply. I am looking for a Breeder Female that can go this season. I know now is not the time but the two females I was hoping to breed this season are just slow in the weight category. If it is a het for something that would be fine but nothing too expensive. Thanks for the help.

That's a tough one. One of the few breeders I do business with at the Indy show does breed bps and it's worth a shot to see if he has any he's willing to let go (he was at one time):

Don Hamper at the Ohio show is also worth a shot:

You might try emailing them to see. I've not seen many adults lately - as you might expect.

Hope you find what you're looking for.

Don Hamper attends the Indy show. Atlease every Indy show I've been to, him and his animals have been the first booth inside the door.
Indy gets alot of the Columbus's 'left-overs', but it's usually a great show.

I emailed him a week or two ago and he says he no longer does the Indy shows because it interfers with some of the other shows he does.

There are about a dozen guys that go to both the Indianapolis and the Colubmus shows, just to find adult females. Most of the guys just buy them cheap and list them online for $300 or more.
Two or three guys actually look for them to add to their collections.
I set up at the Indy show, and from time to time I pick up a nice large female Ball that someone is carrying around, looking to trade it off or sell it.
I can not set up at the Colubmus show cause I would be an out of state vendor and would need a health certifate for each and every animal I would bring there. The cost would made my animals much higher priced then the local guys.. so why go??
My two cents...
