Common Chuckie housing

AlteredMind99 Oct 20, 2004 10:10 AM

Would a standard 75 or 90gallon aquarium be large enough to house one adult Common Chuckwalla?

I don't remember the gallons of my tank, but something that is at least 4 feet long and 18 to 22 inches deep would be the smallest I'd go for a single chuck or a trio (2 females and one male). If you can get a bigger tank get one, especally if you will have more than one chuck.

I would cover the back and 2 sides. Chuckwallas seem to freak out in all glass as they feel like they are out in the open and very insecure. Make sure you have a lot of rockwork and hides. I sent you an article through the mail. Tom

Thanks, when i do get a chuckie i will go with a bigger tank then, i dont like doing the minimum size. Maybe a specially constructed enclosure that doesnt have any glass so he wont freak out would be best?
