I shut off the lights and heat on my two adult collareds (after gradually reducing both), and they've definitely slowed down, but it seems to be too warm in my house for them to go completely to sleep for the winter. So I bought myself a little wine fridge and am just about ready to move the lizards. I wanted to post a quick rundown of what I'm planning in case I'm about to do something dumb.
The fridge thermostat is set such that the temperature stays between 50 and 55 degrees with the door slightly ajar to let a little fresh air in. I've verified that with a thermometer.
I plan to put the two lizards in an 8" diameter plastic food container with a few layers of paper towel on the bottom and a jar lid for a water dish. I'll wrap the container in tinfoil (with air holes poked in the top) to keep it dark since the fridge has a glass door.
I'll brumate them for 8 weeks, until around Christmas, checking in on them every couple of days to make sure they have water and the paper towels are clean.
Am I missing anything, or does that sound like a reasonably safe brumation setup?
