Budgett's Hippo Frog

showofhands Oct 20, 2004 01:12 PM

Does anyone have one of these? I'd soon like to become a first-time amphibian owner (currently keeping only millipedes), and I'm trying to learn as much as I can about various species. Aquariumstuffers.com has the Budgett's hippo frog, with which I am totally unfamiliar. Based upon the information it gives, these fellas seem quite similar in range, size, and diet to the Argentine Horned frogs. For a first-timer, is there any reason why these would be more or less advisable than the pacman or pixie? Thanks!

I xan't type much due to a nasty copperhead bite, but search the forum and read the book on horned and african bullfrogs by RD Bartlett. I would not suggest them as a first frog however. There are more posts too if you try using the search function.

How did you manage to get bit?

Was relocating a copperhead. Snake bit me through the bag. Was in the hos. for 48 hrs and still can't use my right arm at all as of 10/21 at 11:29 pm.
