Kerby's picture of the Newport eggs has me curioius. Our first snake to lay eggs was a Newport we got from him, and the eggs are around two inches long, and she laid 8 of them. Our Blotched king was bred and is now in her "pre-lay" shed, but doesn't seem very large so I wonder if she is gravid, though it seems to me I can feel at least two "bulges" as of eggs. Now I wonder... are Blotched king eggs smaller than the newport cali king eggs? Or should I just expect some slugs from the blotched king and give her another year of growth before trying her again. Once she sheds I'll be taking out her deep water dish and replacing it with a shallow one that will dry up daily, and giving her a nest box.
Doing the "snake thing" sure is fascinating, and a detailed study in "glacial patience"!
